A Look Back at Our 2019 Market

The year-end numbers are in and our market saw some significant changes in 2019. Here’s what you need to know.

It’s February already and it’s time for a quick update now that the complete 2019 numbers are here.

2019 was a great year for real estate from buyers’ and sellers’ perspectives. One of the big pieces of news is that the number of sold homes increased by 6.5% from 2018 to 2019.

As of January 10, we have 4,329 active listings on the MLS, which is slightly up from the 4,059 we saw at the same time last year.

December sales were up by 21.7%.

Days on market is another statistic we’re watching. Back in 2015, we had an average of 76 days, but it then dropped to 54 in 2017, 53 in 2018, and back up to 54 in 2019.

The time where sales were up the most was at the end of the year. We sold 21.7% more homes in December 2019 than we did in December 2018, and the days on market dropped by six days as well.

We had one of the best Januarys in a long time and we’re starting the year off strong. We’re not sure how long this will continue, but we do know that conditions are ripe for homebuyers and sellers right now.
