Live downtown music series kick off 2015 seasons

Let the music begin! This week kicks off the 2015 season for live music on Greenville’s award-winning Main Street, with concerts every Thursday and Friday from now through the summer.

Thursdays: Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive

Downtown Alive kicks off this Thursday (March 19) and will continue through August 27. Downtown Alive helps support the Metropolitan Arts Council and features a different band each week, with styles including rock, blues, country, funk, folk and more.

This Thursday will feature the award-winning Dead 27s, a Southern rock/soul group described as “one of Charleston’s best live bands.” Check out the rest of the season lineup on the official Downtown Alive webpage.

Downtown Alive takes place at NOMA Square, outside the Hyatt on North Main Street. The music starts at 5:30, and admission is free.

Fridays: Greenville Heritage Main Street Fridays

Main Street Fridays begins this week on March 20 and runs through September 25. It’s also located at NOMA Square, and features a slightly different flavor of music, including jazz, blues, oldies, soul, and classic rock.

This week the featured band is Groove Planet, a 4-person R&B band native to Greenville. Check out the rest of the season lineup on the official Main Street Fridays page.

Oh, and parents? Main Street Fridays includes a dedicated kids area, sometimes including giant inflatables, face painting, and more, so the whole family can have a great time.

Admission is free, and the music begins at 5:30.

Have fun, and enjoy the great music scene downtown has to offer!
