Meet Moses Nickerson!
Moses, currently The Haro Group’s general manager, started as Haro’s first agent in 2012. In his first full year, Moses and an assistant completed 72 real estate transactions (by contrast, the average real estate agent does 8 to 10 annually). Since then Moses has trained 3 other Haro Group agents, who have also excelled.
Moses now devotes his time to training and leadership, making sure the agents have the resources they need. He and his wife Molly have four children: Anna Rose (11), Kai (9), Lloyd (2), and Bucer (2 months).
We asked Moses a few questions to get his perspective on Greenville real estate and what he’s passionate about.
What makes the Greenville area such a popular area for people looking to relocate?
“[People talk about] the downtown, the charm of homes downtown, the ease of getting around. I think we’re one of the only cities that has a waterfall in our downtown. And Falls Park is actually top 10 parks in the United States.
“It’s a very fast growing metro area, [but] there’s not a major metropolis … it’s like 20 small towns all strung together. Greenville city is only 60,000 people I think, but Greenville County is like 450,000. So it’s an odd mix. A small town feel with larger city amenities.”
What do you think makes The Haro Group so successful?
“We’re considerably more efficient than the average team on the buyers’ side. The number of homes we have to show a client before they find the house they’re going to buy is low. We provide a pool and then narrow it down to their top 5 or 6 [rather than they typical 15], and it’s usually one of those.
“On the listing side, we provide a really high level of service. We provide professional photography and professional www. And probably more than anything, the house is prepared to be listed and marketed well from day one on the MLS. So on the listing side we average home sales in 30 to 40 days, whereas the averages for the market are 90 to 100 days.
“We give great pricing guidance and are incredible negotiators, so we get on average 99% of the list price.”
What do you love most about your job?
“I enjoy figuring out ways to make things better: to zero in on different people’s strengths and to figure out ways to make everyone’s job easier.”
Outside of work, what are you most passionate about?
“Obviously, adopting kids is a good idea. [Moses and Molly have adopted children themselves.] That’s something we’re passionate about—helping the right people do that by encouraging them and setting the right expectations.
“We’re ‘serial church plant helpers.’ That’s probably one of the main things we do on the side. I was a worship leader for a while. This is 2nd church plant we helped get off ground and we attend one, which we really enjoy. Someday I would love to use real estate to fund and launch church plants in neighborhoods. So that’s kind of my dream.”
