We like to give back to our community in many different ways, and that’s why I’m sitting with David Moorhead, the executive director of Set Free Alliance. We like to support organizations in and around our community here in Greenville, but we’re supporting a more global organization today.
Set Free Alliance is based in Greenville, but they rescue children from slavery in India. Most of these children were rescued from dangerous mining jobs in rock quarries. These children typically end up in this situation when their parents are forced to ‘sell’ them out of financial desperation from high-interest debts. Other children were simply abandoned or orphaned, and they take all of them and teach them the skills in life that they need.
All the children in this program are from the untouchable class, and so they would not be educated or valued in any way outside of the Indian caste system. Set Free Alliance currently helps 1,300 children in India, and with your help they would like to help many more.
We invite you to partner with us in helping Set Free Alliance, and we also encourage you to attend the gala they are throwing later this month. Find more information on their website: www.setfreealliance.org.
Helping the community is very important to us, and if you’d like to join us in the effort of giving back, please don’t hesitate to contact us. There is always a way to help!
